Spent 8 months avoiding Olaplex because I thought it was overhyped, then tried it on a client with bleach damage and her hair actually felt like normal hair again after one treatment.
What other products have you been skeptical about that turned out to work way better than you expected?

Gotta call something out real quick... Olaplex isn't really a "treatment" you just slap on and see results after one use. It's more of a bond builder that needs consistent application over time for damaged hair. I thought K18 was gonna be just another overpriced gimmick but it actually fixed my friend's fried ends way faster than I expected after she bleached her hair three times in a month. But yeah, Olaplex is good just not a one-and-done miracle like some people claim.

yeah so @morgan_jenkins90 I get what you're saying about Olaplex needing consistency, but honestly my roommate tried it once on her crispy bleach job and her hair felt like straw to actually having some slip after one wash. I mean maybe it's just her hair type or something. but the one that really surprised me was the Amika soulfood mask. my friend kept saying it was just another expensive conditioner and she finally used it last month and her hair actually looked shiny for like two days straight. she's been using it every wash since. also I was super skeptical about the Redken acidic gloss line because it sounded like marketing nonsense but she tried that too and her color faded way less than normal. idk sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and try stuff even if it feels overhyped.
