Serious question, a nail tech in Reno called out my cuticle work and I almost blew her off
I was sure she was just nitpicking when she said my cuticle work was causing lifting on gel sets. I had been doing dry cuticle work with a hand file and nippers only for about 3 years, never used an e-file bit for the cuticle area at all. She showed me her own nail, no lifting after 4 weeks on a client who works in water all day. I tried her method on 6 clients in 2 weeks and only one had slight lifting, compared to my usual 3 or 4. Now I can't figure out if I should switch my whole kit to e-file bits or keep the hand method for clients who flinch. What bit do you actually use for cuticle work without scaring people?
The bit matters way less than the speed and hand piece weight, honestly, since a heavy air tool with a coarse bit is what makes people flinch, not the bit itself. Try a light electric hand piece with a fine flame bit on the lowest setting and most clients won't even notice you switched.
