My booth at the Phoenix hair show had a line 12 deep while the row of "clean beauty" stalls sat empty, and I know why
I worked a two day show down in Phoenix two weekends ago and the contrast on that floor was wild. The section with backbar basics and honest tool demos was packed shoulder to shoulder while a whole row of clean beauty and organic labeling booths had maybe two people drifting past all morning. I sell color and I'm not shy about it, and I had a line 12 deep at one point just from doing live foil placement on a mannequin head. Here's my stance: clients don't want a lecture on chemicals, they want to see the product work and they want to touch the tools and ask dumb questions without a sales pitch. Those label heavy booths lost because they led with fear instead of a demo. I get asked at least five times a show if I use "clean" lines and my answer is always the same, show me the proof on real hair and I'll listen. So what's actually pulling traffic at the shows you all work, demos or the fear based booths?
