Just found out a crazy stat about hair color allergies
Was reading through a cosmetology safety blog last night. Found out that about 1 in 250,000 people have a severe reaction to PPD in hair dye. That's way more common than I thought. I've had clients skip patch tests before and brush it off. Has anyone here ever had a client react badly to color even after a test?

Wait, what if the allergy is actually to something in the bowl, not the dye itself?

Honestly, that's a weird theory but I gotta ask - what kind of metal or material could cause a reaction in the bowl that would look like a dye allergy? Like, is there some cheap plastic or metal mixing bowl out there that people need to watch out for? Tbh, I've never thought about the bowl itself being the problem, but it does make me wonder if some of those super cheap beauty supply bowls have some nasty stuff in them. Have you ever actually seen or heard about anything specific that could trigger something that way?
