Can we talk about how long it took me to figure out my toner was oxidizing on the bowl?
So I had this client with level 9 ash blonde hair, and her toner kept pulling warm after about 10 days no matter what I did. I blamed the developer, then the shampoo, then I even switched lighteners twice, which cost me about $80 in product over two months. Turns out my mixing bowl had tiny scratches holding onto old color, and the leftover developer was messing with my ratios every single time. Once I swapped to a smooth glass bowl and started mixing with a whisk instead of a brush, her toner finally held for a full 4 weeks. I felt so dumb, but also kind of relieved it was not my technique. Anybody else get tripped up by their tools instead of their formula?
