Can we talk about how I doubted hair oils for years

I always thought hair oils were just snake oil for people who wanted to feel fancy. Then a client named Maria kept coming in with this amazing shine that held up even after a humid day outside. She finally told me she uses argan oil from a brand called Moroccanoil and I tried a sample on my own hair last month. My ends looked way better after 3 washes so now I recommend it to most of my clients. Has anyone else flipped their opinion on a product they used to ignore?

Nah, hair oils are still just grease in a pretty bottle to me.

But if you've never tried one that actually soaks in instead of just sitting on top, how do you know? I was all in on that "oils are a scam" train until I saw Maria's hair hold curl definition on day 3. What kind of hair do you have that makes you so sure they all just grease things up? Because I've got fine 2b waves and the Moroccan stuff dried down almost invisible, but my friend with coarse 4c hair says she feels like she has to wash hers out with dish soap.
