Appreciation post: The day I stopped fighting with setting spray at a wedding
I was doing a bride's makeup last Saturday in Sacramento, and her foundation started sliding off by the time we got to the reception. I used to swear by heavy setting sprays, but that day I had a little fan and a lightweight powder I grabbed on a whim. The bride's mom even commented on how fresh her skin looked after 6 hours. It totally changed my mind about piling on product to make things stay. Now I only use a light mist and a good fan for weddings. Has anyone else had a heat-of-the-moment fail that switched up your whole routine?

Oh man, that fan trick is a game changer! I had a similar moment at an outdoor summer wedding where my face was melting off and a friend handed me a little handheld fan. Now I swear by that plus a really light dusting of powder instead of drowning everything in spray.

yeah my friend sarah went through this whole phase where she was convinced setting spray was the only answer for her oily skin. she'd drench her face in it like five times before walking out the door. then she went to this outdoor concert in august and her makeup was basically sliding off by the second song. someone lent her a little fold up fan and she was like wait this actually works better than all that spray. now she keeps one in her purse for summer events and just dusts on some powder before she leaves. she says it's way less messy and her makeup actually stays put longer.
