Come on, is hair having feelings a real thing now? I mean, it's just hair. It can be heavy or dry maybe, but "sad" sounds like she's just having a bad day and blaming her hair. People get too deep about this stuff. A color job is about the color looking right, not some vibe check. If the shade is off, fix it, but don't make it a therapy session.
