Warning: my container build got quieter after I swapped the corrugated box for a flat panel on the south side
Nobody in the container crowd wants to hear this but the ribbed walls are the worst part of a build and I'll die on that hill. I finished a 20 foot box cabin near Flagstaff last June and the inside noise was brutal, you could hear the wind drumming on the ridges from the loft. Four months later I cut out a 6 foot section on the south wall and welded in flat 14 gauge plate with a 2 inch stud frame behind it and the drumming just died. Not gone, but maybe 70 percent quieter in that room, and my buddy who sleeps up there stopped wearing earplugs. Cost me about $380 in steel and a Saturday, way less than the spray foam quote of $2,100 I got for the whole box. Everyone says skin the ribs and call it done, but flat plate in the noisy spots beat the foam for me. Curious if anyone else has cut in flat sections and how you handled the seams against the corrugation.
