Cut 2 inch boards at 4pm when it was 104 out and they fit tight enough that my July power bill dropped to $71, has anyone else skipped spray foam and regretted it later?
That "104 out" detail is the real trick people miss. Heat makes the boards expand so by the time it cools down at night they lock in tight. I did the same thing on my shed and yeah it worked but come winter those gaps opened up a bit on the north side. Just watch for condensation between the foam and the metal when it swings from hot days to cold nights. Spray foam seals that gap forever, rigid boards can work loose over a couple seasons.
