That week my container roof almost caved in from snow load

Last January we got hit with a freak 2-foot dump here in Denver and I hadn't braced the roof ribs properly on my 40-footer. Woke up to this scary creaking sound around 3 AM, went out with a flashlight and saw the top panel was bowing inward by at least 6 inches. Spent the next 2 days shoveling snow off and welding in extra cross beams I should have done from the start. Anyone else deal with unexpected snow load issues on their build?

Did you check the gutter and drainage system before the snow hit? That trapped meltwater can add way more weight than the snow itself.

...and I actually read somewhere that a clogged gutter can hold an extra thousand pounds of water in some cases. That is way more than the snow itself would ever weigh. So if that ice dam is sitting there backing up water, you are basically asking for a roof leak or worse.
