Shoutout to the welder who talked me out of a bad cut
I was about to slice a 40 foot container right through a corner post for a window opening, and this old guy named Mike at the salvage yard in Tulsa just stopped me. He showed me how the whole frame would have buckled if I cut there, saved me from ruining 2 grand worth of steel. Has anyone else had a random stranger change their whole build plan?

Always stop and talk to the old guys at salvage yards, they've seen every mistake you're about to make. Mike was saving you from a headache that would've cost way more than just the container, especially with how container frames hold all the tension. That kind of real talk from someone who's been there is worth more than any youtube tutorial.

I get where you're coming from with the old guys knowing their stuff, but I see it a little different. "Worth more than any YouTube tutorial" sounds good on paper, but not everyone has a Mike watching their back. Some of those old timers will happily steer you wrong if they think you're competition or just don't like your face. I've had guys at the yard give me bad advice on purpose just to see me waste time and money. You gotta use your own head first and double check everything, because not every salty veteran is looking out for you. Trust the info, but trust your own gut more.
