Learned spray foam the hard way on my first build
Saw three different builds on YouTube skip the vapor barrier under spray foam and now those guys are fighting rust from trapped moisture. I tore mine out twice before getting it right, and the extra $200 for barrier was worth every penny. Anybody else run into moisture issues with their insulation approach?

Saw my buddy skip the vapor barrier on his garage build and six months later he's scraping black mold off the studs. Tried telling him it's the same deal as wrapping a sandwich in wet paper towels, just traps everything bad inside. Had a guy on another forum swear by closed cell foam with no barrier and his insulation started dripping like a leaky faucet after a hard freeze. Water always finds the dumbest way in too, took me three tries on my shed before I figured out the vapour barrier trick.

My buddy's garage has been standing for like 8 years with no vapor barrier and the only mold he's got is on some old lawn chairs he left in there. I wonder if it's more about how much moisture that specific climate gets or how well the place is ventilated in the first place.

oh come on, how bad could it really get, I've seen plenty of garages without vapor barriers that are fine.
