I finally took my uncle's advice about foam board under the floor

My uncle builds these in Arizona and kept saying to put 2 inches of rigid foam under the subfloor, even in the desert. I figured it was extra cost and skipped it on my 40 foot build near Tucson. First summer, the floor got so hot I could feel it through my slippers. After 3 weeks I pulled up the flooring and added it, cost me about $350 in materials and a full weekend. Has anyone else regretted skipping insulation they thought was optional for their climate?
