Foundation rot ate my first container build in under 3 years

I set my container directly on crushed stone at my property in Austin and moisture wicked up through the steel frame and rotted out the bottom sill plates. Anyone else deal with foundation moisture issues and switch to a proper pier system?

Crushed stone is actually supposed to drain, not wick moisture upward.

Well I'll be. You'd think after 30 years in the trades I'd have that straight by now. But nope, I've had to redo my own driveway drainage twice because I kept thinking the stone would suck water up like a sponge. Turns out my brain is the one that doesn't drain properly, not the gravel. I swear sometimes I overthink these things so bad I could confuse a rock. Thanks for setting the record straight, I guess I owe my stone supplier an apology for all those angry phone calls about my wet basement.
