That old paint store in Philly that made me rethink everything

Back in 2017 I walked into this tiny Benjamin Moore shop on South Street for a quick job and ended up staying an hour just talking to the owner. He showed me how different lighting changes a color from morning to night, which sounds obvious but I never really paid attention before. He pulled out this one gray-green that looked flat at noon but picked up this warm tone around 4pm. Ever since then I always check paint samples at three different times of day before I commit. Has anyone else had a store employee totally change how you look at colors?

Respectfully, natural light shifts seem overhyped when most rooms use artificial lighting anyway.

Oh I have to push back on this one, @casey_campbell! That soft gold light that comes through my west-facing window around 4pm completely changes how my living room feels, nothing artificial can really copy it. Sure I use lamps and ceiling lights at night, but during the day the way that warm glow bounces off the walls and makes everything look cozy is something you just can't get from a bulb. Even my plants perk up differently with real sun hitting them compared to grow lights, it's like the whole room breathes better.
