Saw a client's old color chart from 2004 and it changed my whole approach

They had this faded paper with 16 pastel squares they'd been using since before I was born, and somehow their branding looked more cohesive than any of my carefully researched modern palettes. Has anyone else run into old color schemes that just work better than anything new?

Wait, were these actual color swatches or was it like a printed piece of collateral that just happened to look good with age? Like did the paper yellowing somehow make the pastels work better together lol

Haha @evan51 I get what you're saying about the paper yellowing but I actually think they were real swatches. The colors are too deliberate and that specific dusty pink next to that muted green feels like someone actually sat down and picked them out with intention. Yellowing paper might make them look warmer but it wouldn't create that perfect faded vibe they've got going on.
