Rant: my grandma's quilt pattern made me rethink my whole color process

I was visiting my grandma in Ohio last month and she pulled out this quilt she made in the 70s. The colors are wild, burnt orange, avocado green, mustard yellow, and somehow it all works together. She told me she just picked fabric scraps that felt right in the moment, no swatches, no theory. That hit me because I spend like 2 hours staring at hex codes for every project, and she made a masterpiece by trusting her eyes. Has anyone else ditched the matching systems and just gone with gut instinct, or am I overthinking this whole thing?
