My neighbor, a retired art teacher, told me to pick my main color last
I tried it on a website header and it made choosing the supporting shades so much faster. Has anyone else tried flipping the usual order like that?

Oh man that's exactly what I did with my living room and it saved me from painting the whole thing wrong!

Seriously, yeah. I always pick the accent colors first, like the trim or a cabinet color. Then I find a main wall color that actually works with them. Doing it the other way around always feels like I'm forcing the accents to match.
