Just realized my color palette from 3 years ago looks dated now - did we all go through this?
I was looking at a branding project I did in 2021 for a coffee shop in Austin, and I used this warm mustard and teal combo that felt so fresh back then. Last month I tried using similar colors for a new website design and it just felt... off, like everyone moved on without telling me. I'm seeing way more muted earth tones and dusty pinks in modern palettes now, even saw a designer on Dribbble call mustard yellow "peak 2021 cringe." So is this just natural trend evolution, or are we all stuck in cycles where our personal favorites go in and out of style every few years? Has anyone else revisited old projects and wondered how they ever thought that palette looked good?

Muted earth tones were already big by late 2020 actually, so mustard's been on the way out longer than you think. Trends move fast but don't worry, everything circles back eventually.

Oh great, so by the time I finally gave in and bought a mustard sweater, the trend was already cold. Classic timing on my part. Guess I'll just hold onto it for another 10 years until it circles back around.
