Just realized I was matching colors by screen brightness for 2 years...

I was working on a branding project for a local coffee shop in Denver last month. Client kept saying the warm brown I picked looked "muddy" on their printed cups. I kept adjusting on my monitor and getting more frustrated. Turned out I had my screen brightness cranked to 100% the whole time. Their office printed materials under normal lighting and it looked nothing like what I saw. Color calibrator finally tipped me off after I blew 3 print proofs. Anybody else make this dumb mistake or just me?

Is it really that deep though? It's just coffee cups.

Made the exact same mistake last month actually. I had my screen cranked up so bright I thought I was designing for a neon sign company. Called my client "color blind" for a whole week before I realized it was me.
