I thought the 60-30-10 rule for color was just some made up design thing

I was working on a website for a local bakery and my colors felt off. A friend told me to try the 60-30-10 rule. Basically, 60% main color, 30% secondary, 10% accent. I was sure it was just a silly trick. But I tried it with a cream, a soft brown, and a little berry red. It just clicked. The site looked balanced, not messy. The owner said it felt 'cohesive' which was the exact word she used. I've used it on three projects since. It's a simple tool but it really works. Has anyone else found a basic rule like this that actually helps?

It's wild how those simple rules actually work in practice.

Yeah, simple rules working is wild. Reminds me of how just showing up to the gym actually does make a difference.

Come on, it's just going to the gym. People act like it's some huge life hack.
