I finally realized why so many people's 'nature' palettes look like a hospital room after my friend's 'forest' logo used only three shades of gray.

He said it was 'modern' but it just looked dead, so now I always check if a palette has at least one warm or saturated color to keep things from feeling sterile.

Forest" with just gray is wild. That warm color check is a solid move.

Totally see that everywhere now. Feels like a lot of stuff is designed to look cool in photos but ends up feeling kinda cold in real life. Makes you miss a bit of warmth, right?

I mean, I kinda get where the designer was coming from though. A lot of nature brands are trying to look clean and premium, and warm colors can read as cheap or childish if you're not careful. Three shades of gray for a forest logo sounds boring for sure, but there's something to be said for restraint too. Maybe the issue isn't the lack of color but just picking the wrong grays that don't have any life to them at all.
