Got schooled on color theory by a 5 year old at my niece's birthday party last Saturday
She grabbed a bunch of neon playdough and mashed it with brown and somehow it looked amazing, way better than the muted palette I picked for a living room redo last month. Has anyone else had a kid totally wreck their assumptions about what colors work together?

Is it bad that I'm taking notes from a 5 year old's playdough masterpiece? I spent three weeks picking out 'sophisticated' greige paint shades for my bathroom and then watched my nephew slap together neon pink and orange construction paper and somehow it looked like a legit modern art piece. Kids clearly have some kind of color magic we lose as adults. My living room is currently beige on beige on beige. Pretty sure a toddler could fix it in five minutes.

Man, you just hit on something REAL big here @wendy_clark. I swear the older we get the more we try to make everything "tasteful" and end up making it boring. Kids don't have that fear of being wrong yet so they just go for it. It's like we LOSE the ability to trust our gut on color somewhere around age 12. Your bathroom would probably look AMAZING with a splash of neon pink and orange honestly.
