A teacher in my night class told me my palette was 'too safe' and to try picking one color from a photo I love.
Now I'm stuck between thinking it's a cheap trick or a real way to find colors that feel right, so what's your take on using photos for palettes?

It's not a cheap trick if it works, and @alicebarnes is right about the lighting.

Honestly I thought that was just a silly hack until I tried it. The lighting really does make a huge difference in person. Totally changed how I set up shots now.
