A client told me my color sets looked like a 'sad office building'

I was working on a logo for a small bakery in Portland and showed them my first draft. They said the grays and dark blues felt too cold and corporate, like a law firm. I swapped the main color to a warm terracotta and used a cream instead of white, and it totally changed the vibe. Has anyone else had a client point out a mood you didn't even realize you were making?

Sometimes a client's first reaction is just wrong. That gray and blue combo could have been modern and clean for the right bakery, maybe one going for a minimalist, high-end look. Terracotta and cream is a safe choice, but it's not the only way to avoid looking corporate.

Man, color is such a weird subconscious thing. I once did a whole palette for a kids' app with bright primaries, thinking it was fun. My friend took one look and said it felt like a hospital waiting room from the 90s. Totally deflated me, but she was right. It was all about the specific shades I picked, they had this sterile, clean feel instead of a playful one. Had to redo the whole thing with softer, more mixed colors.

Ever think pure brights are always fun? Your story @lee352 made me realize how much tone matters.
