Wasted $80 on a 'single origin' subscription that was just stale supermarket beans
I signed up for this fancy coffee club online, promising rare beans from Colombia. The first bag arrived last month and smelled like cardboard when I opened it. The roast date was from three months ago, and it tasted flat and bitter no matter how I brewed it. I feel like I just got scammed by a nice looking website. Has anyone found a subscription that actually sends fresh, good coffee?

Ugh, that's the worst feeling. Opening a bag you were excited for and getting hit with that stale smell is such a letdown. Three months past roast is basically ancient for specialty coffee. Had a similar thing happen with a company that talked all about their direct trade, but the beans were just as sad. What did their customer service say when you complained?
