Unpopular opinion: my $8 garage sale grinder made better coffee than my $200 one
So I'm at a garage sale in Sacramento two weeks ago and this old guy sells me a crusty blade grinder for $8, says his wife hated the noise. I figured whatever, I'll use it for decaf or something, but my burr grinder was clogged that morning so I gave it a shot with some Ethiopian beans I got from a local roaster. The grind was all over the place, like half powder half boulders, but the cup came out sweet and fruity in a way my normal setup never gets. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I've been overthinking this whole thing for 3 years, and my burr grinder is collecting dust on the counter. Has anyone else gone back to a cheap blade grinder and actually liked it, or am I just losing it?
