Took 3 months to realize my grinder burrs were the problem, not my beans

I kept getting sour espresso shots no matter what I did. Tried different roasts, adjusted my dose, even changed my water filter. Then a buddy who roasts in Portland suggested I check the burrs on my old grinder. Turns out they were dull from 4 years of daily use and needed a realignment. I sent them out for sharpening and the difference was night and day. Has anyone else had a grinder issue that made them doubt their whole setup for way too long?
