The $9 cortado at Cafe Grumpy is why I stopped drowning my coffee in milk
About 3 years ago I was killing time in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and ducked into Cafe Grumpy on Nassau Ave just to get out of the rain. I ordered a cortado because it was the cheapest thing on the menu and I didn't want to look clueless, and the barista handed me this tiny glass with maybe 2 ounces of coffee in it. First sip honestly kind of annoyed me because I couldn't hide anything behind milk, but I could actually taste what the beans were doing for once. Now I own a scale and a gooseneck kettle like some kind of maniac. Anyone else have a random coffee that flipped a switch for them?
