Spent $180 on a fancy hand grinder and my morning routine changed completely

I mean, I was always a pre-ground guy. Thought grinders were for snobs. But my buddy kept nagging me about stale coffee, so finally caved and got a decent hand grinder for like $180. Honestly, the difference in taste is real, but the biggest win is I actually look forward to the grinding part now. It's weirdly calming before work. Has anyone else found that upgrading one piece of gear just made the whole ritual better? Or did I just get lucky with this one?
