My French press exploded grounds all over the kitchen this morning
I was pressing down and the plunger just gave way, sending coffee sludge onto the counter, the wall, and my white shirt before 7am. Cleanup took a solid 20 minutes and I nearly burned my hand on the hot glass. Has anyone else had a press plunger fail like that, or did I just get a dud?

The plunger just gave way? That's terrifying, I've had cheap presses before but never one that literally exploded on me. You'd think the glass would crack long before the mechanism fails, not the other way around. Sounds like you dodged a real disaster, hot glass and full press is a nasty combo.
