My drip machine at home was making bitter coffee for months and I couldn't figure out why
I was at a coffee shop in Portland and the barista asked how I brewed at home. When I said I used tap water, she just shook her head and said 'That's your problem, the minerals are burning your grounds.' I switched to filtered water and the difference was like night and day. Has anyone else had a simple fix that totally saved their morning cup?

Seriously, grind size is everything.

I dunno, I've had good coffee from all kinds of grinds (maybe I'm just not that picky though).

Oh my gosh, yes! My friend had the same exact thing happen but with her grinder. She was complaining her coffee tasted dusty and weak for weeks. Turns out she had the grind size set way too coarse for her French press and didn't even realize the dial had moved. One tiny twist and it was like she was drinking a totally different coffee, so rich and full. It's crazy how one little setting can make or break the whole pot.
