My buddy swore by pre-wetting filters with cold water instead of hot
Honestly I thought it was dumb for like two years. He kept saying it keeps more of the oils in the cup and prevents that paper taste. I finally tried it last week on my V60 and I gotta admit he was right. The brew came out way smoother and I could actually taste the fruity notes from my Ethiopian beans. I ran three more batches back to back same result every time. Now I feel like an idiot for ignoring him so long. Anyone else get a tip from a friend that you brushed off and later regretted not trying sooner?

Hot water rinsing is fine, changing it feels like overthinking things.

Wait wait wait, you're telling me you tried it with cold water and it actually made a difference? I've been using hot water to pre-wet my filters for like five years and never questioned it once. Gonna have to give this a shot tomorrow morning with my usual light roast.
