Just realized my tap water was ruining my pour over coffee
I always wondered why my coffee tasted weird at home compared to the shop. After some reading, I found out that hard water can really affect how coffee brews. So, I started using filtered water from my pitcher, and the change was huge. The coffee tasted cleaner and the flavors were clearer. I also got a cheap scale to measure the coffee and water exactly. I needed some practice to find the right balance, but now my cups are consistently good. I never thought something so simple could make such a big difference. It's like I unlocked a new level in my coffee game.

Oh wow, I read that minerals really change how coffee extracts...

You know, that point park.emery made about minerals is key because it's not just about hard or soft water. The mineral content in tap water can actually change with the seasons depending on your local supply. I noticed my coffee tasted a bit off again last summer, and it turned out the water treatment plant had switched sources for a few months. Using a filter helps, but sometimes you have to remember the water itself is a moving target.
