I used to think getting a perfect pour every time was just luck. Then I started tracking my ratio and timing with a simple notebook. After 200 pours, I realized consistency is just about being boring and repeating the same steps. My friend laughed when I told him, but he tried it and his coffee cleaned up too. 200 pours is a solid milestone, but channeling can still happen if your beans are a bit too fresh or too stale.

I mean, I've had bags that were perfect for weeks, then the roaster changes something subtle and suddenly my flow rate goes sideways. It's coffee, not a math test. You don't need a whole notebook to know when a pour looks good, you just feel it. Logging every single brew feels like overkill for something you drink in five minutes.
