Had to pick between a $300 Breville and a used La Pavoni on Craigslist
I was stuck deciding between a brand new Breville Barista Express for $300 on sale and a beat up La Pavoni Europiccola from a guy in Portland for $250. Ended up going with the La Pavoni because the seller said he'd had it for 12 years and only replaced the gaskets twice. First week was rough, I burned my hand twice and pulled like 30 bad shots before getting one drinkable one. Now three months in and I'm pulling shots that taste way better than anything I got from my old automatic machine. Anyone else go down the vintage lever route and feel like it's worth the hassle?
