Does a bad pour-over review actually change how you brew?

A guy on Reddit told me my 3-minute bloom was 'ruining' my beans after I posted a video from my Aeropress setup in Austin. I switched to 45 seconds and honestly the cup got cleaner, but I still miss the boldness. Is it worth chasing what one stranger says, or should taste buds override technique every time? Anyone else flip their routine based on a harsh comment and regret it or love it?

That "ruining your beans" comment is a bit harsh, but the 45 second bloom is probably closer to what most recipes call for. A 3 minute bloom is way over the top unless you're doing some cold bloom thing with really light roasts, and even then that's a stretch. The boldness you're missing might not be from the bloom time, it could be your grind size or water temp dropping too fast in that Austin heat. Taste buds should win in the end, but if the cup got cleaner, that stranger kind of had a point even if he was a jerk about it.
