Can we talk about how French press coffee used to be better than pour over back in 2015

I used to swear by my old Bodum French press back in Portland, made a cup every morning for 3 years. Then I tried a V60 pour over at a shop called Heart Coffee and it was like night and day - cleaner, brighter, no grit. Now I can't go back to the press even though it was easier, does anyone else feel like the trend shifted too fast?

Oh man, that Bodum story hits close to home. I had a similar moment with my press where the plunger just locked up and I basically had to muscle it down and got grounds everywhere. It was such a mess. I mean, I still love the ritual of the French press, that whole wait four minutes thing felt so deliberate and chill. But once I tried a pour over, the lack of grit was just so nice. I don't think one is objectively better than the other, but for my clumsy morning self, pour over is just less of a disaster waiting to happen. That Heart Coffee shop in Portland is legit though, they really do change your brain about coffee.

Man, same thing happened to me. I literally threw my back out trying to press a stubborn French press plunger down during my morning haze and spilled scalding coffee all over my white counter. That was my breaking point. Switched to a cheap plastic V60 and never looked back, even though I now own three different fancy goosenecks that I barely use. Guess my clumsy self just needed that one personal disaster to change teams for good.
