A guy at the Seattle coffee meetup told me to smell the grounds twice, and it changed how I pick beans
Went to a small cupping event at a place on Capitol Hill last month and this older guy named Ray kept smelling the same sample over and over. I asked him why and he said his nose gets used to the first smell, so the second one is what he actually trusts. Tried it at home with a bag of Ethiopian beans and I swear I picked up notes I missed the first time. Anyone else do the double sniff thing or is that just a Ray habit?
