TIL why my business cards came out looking like garbage
I spent like $200 on fancy business cards with a dark teal background. They looked amazing on my monitor. When they showed up the color was this muddy greenish brown. The print shop guy explained that the RGB teal I picked just can't be reproduced in CMYK. He showed me the gamut warning on his screen and I felt like an idiot. Anybody else get burned by a color that just doesn't exist in print?

My teal wedding invites looked straight up like swamp water when they printed. Spent way too much on them and had to reorder the whole batch in a darker blue.

Swamp water" is exactly right. That's brutal though, having to reorder the whole batch. I did this for my sister's baby shower invites. Picked this gorgeous minty teal online. Looked amazing on screen. When they showed up, they were this gross greenish-brown. Like old pond water. Had to pay extra for rush printing on a darker shade. Never trusting screen colors again.
