That printer at Kinko's finally got through to me about RGB vs CMYK

Last month I was in a rush to print flyers for a sidewalk sale at the store. I whipped them up in Photoshop and hit print on their big color copier. The guy behind the counter took one look at the screen and said 'you know these are gonna come out muddy, right?' I argued with him for a solid 5 minutes about how the blues looked great on my monitor. He just shrugged and printed one test sheet anyway. The purple I thought I had was a dull brownish mess and all the greens turned pukey. He walked me over to his computer and showed me the CMYK preview - night and day difference. Now I always flip to CMYK view before I lay out a single element for print. Has anyone else had a shop worker save them from a bad print job?

My buddy Chris had this EXACT thing happen at Staples with wedding invitations. He thought he was being smart designing them in RGB and even @elliot_harris25 was right, the guy at the counter saved him from a bunch of sad powder blue invites that would've looked more like dishwater.

Oh man, that's rough but I'm glad he caught it in time... nothing worse than watching your hard work come out looking like garbage.
