That Pantone swatch book I swore was just a gimmick back in 2004...
Spent 8 years matching colors by eye for local print jobs in Cleveland until a client rejected 3 proofs in one week because my blues kept reading purple on their end, and the $300 swatch book paid for itself after that single job.

Isn't it funny how we always think we can eyeball things until we really can't?

Is there one specific thing you keep trusting yourself on even after getting burned multiple times? Like I refuse to learn my lesson about guessing how much gas is left in my car.

Three weeks ago I swore I could smell if milk was still good without checking the date. Took one sip of sour milk with my morning coffee to learn that lesson. Same thing happens with my phone battery - I tell myself I'll charge it later, then panic at 3% during an important call. We all have that blind spot where we think we're better at something than we actually are. The price of learning that lesson is usually way higher than just buying the tool or checking the date in the first place.
