Overheard a printer tech say 'RGB is just lies with extra steps' at a shop in Austin...
It made me wonder if I've been trusting my monitor way too much for matching spot colors. Has anyone else found a specific calibration tool that actually stops the guesswork?

That 'lies with extra steps' line is funny but it hits hard. How do you even begin to trust a screen for spot colors when the paper stock alone can wreck the whole match?

That "lies with extra steps" bit really nails the gap between what we see and what we get. Has anyone actually run into a situation where the screen showed a perfect match but the physical proof came back completely off because of how the ink sat on the paper? What do you do when your press check shows the color's right but the stock absorbs it differently than expected?
