Just had a prepress guy tell me to convert everything to CMYK before sending to print
He said leaving RGB in and letting the RIP handle it was asking for muddy colors. I argued for months until a client's neon green business cards came back looking like swamp water. Anyone else ever trust the converter only to regret it?

Did you end up just throwing the whole box away or did you try to give them out anyway? I still have a stack of my "mystery meat" brownish-orange cards in a drawer somewhere that I'm too stubborn to toss. That's the thing about neon colors on screens, they look totally different when ink actually hits paper.
