Graphic designer buddy told me my black was 'wrong' and I'm still processing
So last week my friend who does packaging design looked at a flyer I printed and said 'bro, your black is killing me, you're just using 100% K.' I've been doing that for like 10 years, never thought twice about it. He showed me his setup where he uses like 60/40/40/100 for a super rich black and honestly it looks way better on paper. Has anyone else switched to rich black and regretted it when the ink starts bleeding weird on thicker stock?

Man that's rough. I once spent a whole weekend making a zine and used 100% K for everything because I didn't know any better. Ended up with this flat, dusty grey that looked like it was printed on a napkin from 1995. Switched to a rich mix and never looked back, just gotta watch out on uncoated paper or it turns into a wet mess.

Wait, you printed an entire zine in 100% K by accident? That's honestly kind of impressive in a horrible way, like you went out of your way to make the worst possible print job.
