Man that's the kind of compliment that sticks with you for years. It's funny how strangers can sometimes say something so simple that just hits different, way better than a generic "nice work" from someone you know. A print shop guy in Chicago would definitely have seen a ton of stuff come through his shop, so him saying something must mean it was legit. That's a solid memory to hold onto.

Funny how people in specialized trades (print shops, frame shops, etc.) have this weird superpower for spotting quality. They've seen thousands of prints roll through, so when they bother to say something positive, it carries way more weight than a generic compliment. Like, a barista telling you your coffee tastes good isn't the same as a barista who's been doing pour-overs for 15 years saying your latte art is clean. That print shop guy probably forgot about it two minutes later, but it's living rent-free in your head forever. That's the real magic of it.
