A prepress guy roasted my neon green poster and I thought he was nuts
He said my pure RGB green was gonna print like swamp mud, so I switched it to a CMYK mix of 30C 0M 100Y 0K and he was totally right. Has anyone else had a printer save them from a color disaster at the last second?

Oh man, that's a classic trap. I remember reading something years ago about how RGB green is basically impossible to print accurately. Screens are backlit so they make colors look super bright and fake. Paper just can't do that. That printer dude saved your ass for sure. Swamp mud is exactly what you'd get if you tried to print pure #00FF00 on a regular press.

Doesn't matter how good your printer is either. Even high end commercial presses turn that bright screen green into something that looks like pond scum. Pantone has a green that comes close but it costs a fortune and still isn't quite right. The real trick is picking a CMYK combo that reads as green without looking muddy. Most people just accept the loss and move on.
