Taped a tape measure to my cardboard rig after 3 failed door frames

Ngl, I kept cutting foam board door frames too small because I eyeballed the measurements. So I grabbed a $4 fiberglass tape from Harbor Freight and taped it straight onto my workbench cardboard template. Now I just lay the piece on top and cut, no more guessing. Has anyone else hacked their mockup setup with something this dumb but effective?

Stare at that tape measure long enough and it starts judging you for every crooked cut you ever made. I did the same thing with a metal yardstick and a chunk of duct tape, except my tape kept sliding off because I forgot to clean the dust off the cardboard. Ended up with a template that measured one thing and cut another, so basically I built a lie detector for my own laziness. Works great now though, and the tape silhouette looks kinda like a shrine to my failures.
