Gluing foamcore with hot glue felt sketchy but it's way stronger than I thought

I was sure rubber cement was the only way for clean models, but after 3 mockups the hot glue joints held up to me dropping the whole thing off my desk... my last rubber cement one fell apart in my bag. Anyone else switch methods and find something that surprised them?

Yeah "dropping the whole thing off my desk" is the real test lol. I switched to hot glue for my terrain builds about a year ago and never looked back. PVA was my go-to for ages but it took forever to dry and stuff would slide around before it set. Hot glue is just instant grab and I can move on. The only thing I hate is those stringy bits you get when you pull the gun away, but a quick pass with a lighter cleans that up.

Same thing happens with superglue, the faster it dries the more likely your fingers end up stuck to something they shouldn't be. It's like every quick fix solution has that one annoying tradeoff built in.
